SD Department of Human Services' Kimberly Hoberg works for the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) and is one of the Mobridge Area Chamber of Commerce's newest members. Her agency manages state and federally funded programs that provide supports to people with disabilities including job training, as well as obtaining, and maintaining employment. DRS can also be of assistance and provide support to employers.
Presently, South Dakota is experiencing a labor shortage due to members of the workforce retiring. By learning what employers are looking for in successful applicants and employees for their companies, DRS counselors help match employers with qualified applicants with disabilities. DRS also provides support regarding disability education, reasonable accommodations, individualized services, and knowledge of business incentives. Additionally, DRS can support employers if current employees acquire disabilities later in their careers and require supports to maintain their employment.
Kimberly's office is based in Aberdeen, but she also covers various areas west of Aberdeen including Walworth County. "I am honored to be part of the Chamber and hope to meet or work with many local business owners in the future," she says. She travels to Mobridge on a regular basis and wants people to feel free to contact her. She can be reached at (605) 626-2398 or toll-free at (800) 439-3417.
