2027 Mobridge Ice Fishing Tournament

We are just over 6 months away from our 27th Annual Mobridge Chamber Ice Fishing Tournament and the Mobridge Chamber's Tourism Committee is busy gearing up for the 2027 tournament! We are excited to be able to host this event every year.

The 2027 Tournament will be Saturday, January 16th with the Rules Meeting on Friday, January 15th. And don't forget the Ice Fishing Expo on Thursday and Friday January 14th and 15th, 2027.

If you fail to register or are unable to make it to the tournament, you will forfeit your guaranteed spot and it will then be included in the lottery, this means you will not be eligible for prizes and you will not have a spot in future tournaments.

Please make sure only one person from each team registers. If we find that a team "split" and tried to enter twice, both teams will be disqualified, and team members will no longer be allowed to enter in any Chamber Tourism Committee events. We will be looking at photo IDs during the tournament, so please be ready to prove your identity.

Before you register, here are some dates you need to know for registration:

July 20th, 2026: Registration Opens

Email is sent to FIRST angler, only ONE team member gets this email

August 3rd, 2026: Registration Reminder Email

If your team HAS NOT registered, this email will be sent to the SECOND angler from the 2025 Ice Fishing Tournament.
They will then have a chance to register your team.

August 7th, 2026: - Registration Closes (5:00pm CDT)

if you are not registered by 5pm (CDT) you will lose your spot!

August 14th, 2026: Lottery Opens

All unclaimed ice fishing spots will be placed in the lottery.

September 4th, 2026: Lottery Closes

Last day to enter the lottery by 5pm (CDT).

September 2026: Night of Awesomeness - Date to be announced

Team number and lottery spots are drawn.

December 15, 2026 - January 3rd, 2027 - Team Changes Accepted

This will be the ONLY time team member changes are accepted.
You are only allowed to switch out ONE team member from 2026
Each team change after initial registration will result in a $25 fee.

Mobridge Annual Ice Fishing Tournament

Over 25 Years of Tradition

In January 2001, the Mobridge Tourism Committee hosted the first-ever Mobridge Ice Fishing Tournament. With a budget of $800, the committee was committed to making the event a success. In the beginning, the tournament had a cap of 50 individuals and the grand prize was a Mr. Heater. The following year the tournament doubled in size and grew to 50 two-person teams competing for the grand prize of an ice auger. From there the tournament continued to grow every year as the committee allowed more teams to participate.

Now, more than 20 years later the tournament has grown to be the largest Ice Fishing Tournament in South Dakota at 525 teams of two anglers who compete for more than $225,000 in cash and prizes. The Annual Mobridge Ice Fishing Tournament attracts fisherman from all over South Dakota and the entire Midwest each and every year!

How to Fish in the Tournament

To reward the teams of anglers who have fished with us from the beginning the committee allows these teams a guaranteed spot in the tournament. Guaranteed team registration opens every year in mid-July and ends in early August.

There are a handful of opportunities to gain a guaranteed spot each year. Firstly, one guaranteed spot is drawn each year for the anglers who participate in our summer fishing tournament the Annual Denny Palmer Memorial Walleye Classic. Additionally, three guaranteed spots are auctioned off on eBay each year. EBay auctioned teams open in late September. Lastly, we do an annual raffle for a guaranteed spot each year. Tickets for this raffle open in early October cost $30 per entry, and the team is drawn in December.

Lottery Drawing

Once guaranteed team registration closes in August all remaining team spots are drawn for. The spots drawn are non-guaranteed and allow entry into that year's tournament only.
