Calling all area kids! We need your help to build a playground in Mobridge that you will love.

An inclusive space for all Mobridge youth

As part of the Mobridge Parks and Recreation Connectivity Plan passed by the City Council in February 2023, Mobridge Community Development Corporation and the City of Mobridge committed to creating “a new inclusive playground system and independent elements at the east municipal play park with a placemaking design inspired by Mobridge’s unique history and culture.”

On May 9, 2023, The Wellmark Foundation reached out to provide $100,000 in matching funds for the project. “We are so excited to partner with The Wellmark Foundation to provide an updated park where youth in Mobridge–and especially in our southeast neighborhood–can enjoy safe, active play,” said MCDC Board President Haden Merkel in a press release about the matching grant.

This webpage is meant to provide resources to community members who would like to get involved and to know more about what has been done so far and our plans for the future of this project.

How to Get Involved Online

We invite all area youth to complete our ‘Pick Your Park’ game-style survey to help us understand the best equipment for us to purchase.

We will be posting a general survey for community adults to identify current use patterns and public perceptions of the east play park here by May 15th.

How to Get Involved In Person

MCDC will be hosting five community events at the East Play Park between May 15 and August 15 in order to get as much community feedback and participation as possible on this project.

How to Donate

Every donation makes a difference and will be doubled by The Wellmark Foundation—we accept and appreciate all gifts, no matter the size. That said, we are taking a page out of Bismarck Parks and Recreation’s playbook for this project and will install a permanent donor board like the one below on-site at the park in honor of those who provide donations of $1,000 or more to help us meet our $100,000 matching requirement by August 15 with in-kind or financial support.
