The Tour de Oahe offers options for all riders with 3 different routes:

  1. Dam Fun Ride (22 miles)
  2. Dam Nice Ride (37 miles)
  3. Dam Long Ride (65.5 miles)

All rides will feature a ride across the face of the Oahe Dam.

22 MI DAM FUN RIDE

Beginning at Campground 3 Picnic Shelter, riders will follow the stilling basin to make their way out of the campground and onto Highway 1806.  Here they will experience a moderate climb as they make their way to the top of the dam.  Oh, but the view at that top makes it worth it!  Riders will then make their way across the face of the dam and find the first aid station at the Oahe Dam Visitor Center/Little White Church and an opportunity for some great photos!  From here, riders will turn right onto Highway 1804 and enjoy the view of the Missouri River.  Upon reaching Grey Goose Road, riders will take a left and head due North until they reach the Grey Goose Store and the next aid station.  Grab a snack and refill your water bottle!  And then turn around and retrace your steps (peddle strokes) back to the visitor center.  At the visitor center, riders will then take a left and ride down the face of the dam back and complete the tour of the Oahe Downstream Recreation Area by riding the loop of the main campground before returning to Campground 3 and the after-ride picnic.

37 Mile DAM NICE RIDE

This ride will begin just like the Dam Fun Ride as riders make their way across the face of the dam, along the Missouri River, and to the Grey Goose Store. But instead of turning back at the Goose, riders will continue on Grey Goose Road to the end of the pavement before making their way back.  Just like the Dam Fun Ride, riders will turn left when they reach the visitors center again and make their way to tour the Oahe Downstream Recreation Area. Dam Nice Ride participants will take an extended tour of the downstream area that will include close-up views of the Power Plant area before heading to the main campground loop and back to Campground 3 and lunch!

65.5 MILE DAM LONG RIDE

This ride is just like the Dam Nice Ride with a little extra.  Once riders make it to the top of the first hill, instead of turning to ride across the face of the dam, Dam Long Ride participants will continue on Highway 1806 and enjoy the spectacular views of Lake Oahe until they arrive at the old Chantier Creek Resort.  After stopping for a snack and to refill water bottles, riders will turn around and make their way back toward the dam for the signature ride across the face of the dam, then turn right on Highway 1804 to reach to Grey Goose Road where they will ride to the end of the pavement and back.  Just like the Dam Nice Ride, riders will turn left when they reach the visitors center again and make their way to tour the Oahe Downstream Recreation Area to enjoy an extended tour of the downstream area that will include close-up views of the Power Plant area before heading to the main campground loop and back to Campground 3 and lunch!
