LODGE COOK

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items

• Collaborate with the Head Chef to prepare meals during our dining hours

• Memorizing the menu and recommend appetizers, meals and drinks

• Maintain accurate food inventories

• Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures

• Rotate stock items as per established procedures

• Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts

• Ensure that food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized at end of shift

• Making dated list of any items that are low or out for reordering purposes

• Any other duties as assigned by the Lodge Administrator, Social Quarters Manager, Head Chef, Supervisor, or Board of Officers

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Prior Cook experience in a food-serving establishment preferred

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• In-depth knowledge of different types of cuisines

• Able to read and follow standardized recipes

• Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures

• Able to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphere

• Ability to work well under intense time pressure

• Dedication to on-time arrival for shifts

• Highly developed interpersonal skills

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends

• Polite and hospitable attitude

• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations

• Ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and responsiveness

• Accountability in maintaining inventory

• Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time

 

SALARY EXPECTATIONS

• South Dakota Minimum Wage or higher depending on experience

 

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

• Required to be or become ServSafe Food Handler certified and maintain certification
